Birthday celebrations
My birthday weekend here at Whispering Winds was nothing short of amazing. The house was cozy and welcoming. We had a fiesta with fajitas and all the sides, sat out at the picnic table under the big tree. Enjoyed the scenery and watched the boaters going by. Shopping was a short distance so we went to Bastrop and Smithville to the wonderful boutiques. I hated to leave but I promise I will be back. Absolutely love it here!!!

Pretty great
The property is beautifully kept. There are so many different areas that people can gather in comfortably both inside and out. We had a wonderful time.

Fun times every time!
A stay at Whispering Winds has become an annual event for us and a group of our neighbors, this July was our 4th year! We all bring our Kayaks to paddle the Colorado river from the property to the first or second bridge in Smithville. Total paddle time ranges from 2 to 4 hours depending on the river flow and how many stops we make along the way. There are some great swim spots and places along the way for picnics… we tend to take our time and enjoy the views, plants, and wildlife. We have seen King fishers, blue herons (I think), turtles, turkeys, and some kinda ducks. Not a lot of luck fishing but we have caught a few catfish and a bass or two. Other boaters we spoke to have had much better luck, I think they must know the good spots! We also enjoy seeing small airplanes and occasional helicopter flying overhead doing their touch n go’s from the Smithville Municipal Airport. The trip down the river happens every year weather permitting, the rest of our time is spent grilling and having drinks while chillin under the huge shade tree just off the deck of the house and exploring the surrounding areas. We have gone to the dirt track auto races at Cotton Bowl Speedway, Biked Bueschner State Park, and enjoyed dinners/drinks and ice cream in downtown Smithville! We love our time at Whispering Winds it’s a great escape and only a little over an hour from our north Austin neighborhood. Thank You Whispering Winds, See you again soon!

Beautiful place to stay
The property is very lovely! Sunsets were amazing and the view from the porch was peaceful and relaxing. We stayed here in February, so it was a little cold to enjoy all the outdoor activities and water. We have already said that we are coming back to enjoy this place again. Highly recommend!!!
